A favorite sight in Vienna is the colorful Hundertwasser-Haus apartment complex built in 1985. The work of Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser inspired the bold palette and wild foliage.
Hundertwasser coined the term Transautomatism to describe his surrealistic paintings. Rejecting the modernist ideas of Adolf Loos, Hundertwasser-Haus captures Hundertwasser’s ideas and also expresses the Jugendstil spirit of Otto Wagner.
The Hundertwasser-Haus in Vienna is just one of several eye-popping Hundertwasser designs in Europe.
